Axel Plastics to open plant in Monroe, hire up to 80

MONROE, Conn. – New York-based Axel Plastics is set to build a 40,000-square-foot facility in Monroe and hire between 40 to 80 full time employees.

The new facility will be at 50 Cambridge Drive, and manufacture mold releases and additives for plastics, rubbers and urethane. Construction of the new plant is estimated to cost $7 million and will be built without public funding.

Founded in 1941, Axel is a privately-owned company managed by the third generation of the family. Based in Woodside, N.Y., the company has owned the land in Monroe for about two years.
