Fairfield County boasts seventh highest wages in the country

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Fairfield County has the highest average weekly wage in the state and seventh highest nationally according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Coming in at $1,674, the average weekly wage in Fairfield County was much higher than the national average of $1,035 during the fourth quarter of 2014. The top county nationwide was San Mateo County in California.

In addition to high wages, Fairfield County was also one of Connecticut’s three large counties that enjoyed employment increases in fiscal year 2014, with employment growth at 1.7 percent.
